Fluid ounces, the largest can or cup you may drink from in public on Tybee

Drinks on the sand are legal here, in a can or a non-glass cup.

Tybee Island code allows alcohol in public areas, including parking lots, sidewalks, walkways and public beaches, from a metal can or a non-glass cup of 25.4 fluid ounces or less. Glass and breakable containers are banned on the beach, and so are kegs. Savannah's to-go district is stricter: one drink per person, 16 ounces, paper or plastic only.

Is it still trading

Check the operator's own site and recent reviews before paying a deposit.

Planning a Tybee Island bachelorette weekend

Bar hours, Savannah and the calendar.

A Tybee Island bachelorette party is a beach and boat weekend on Savannah's barrier island: a charter or tiki boat, drinks on the sand in cans, seafood and a night in Savannah or on the island. Visit Tybee puts the island about 20 minutes and 17.5 miles east of Savannah's Historic District, on US 80.

Bar hours

Tybee bars can serve until 3 a.m. Monday to Saturday, and the Saturday night service ends at 2:56 a.m. On Sunday only restaurants that earn at least half their sales from food can serve, from 11 a.m. to midnight. Everyone must be 21 to drink or possess alcohol.

Savannah's to-go cups

In Savannah's historic district a bar may sell one drink per person in a paper or plastic cup of 16 ounces or less to carry out; cans, bottles and glass are not allowed on the street.

When to go

NOAA normals at Savannah give highs of about 78 degrees in April and 85 in May, the dry warm window, against 92 in July; June is the wettest month. Hurricane season peaks around September 10. Pirate Fest fills the island October 8 to 11, 2026.

Cans on the sand, an inspected boat for the group, and restaurants only on Sunday.

Where this comes from

The places and rules are as published in September 2026.

The places named here

Every hotel, bar, restaurant and attraction on this page is named by at least three independent sources, at least one of them authoritative, and its hours, prices and rules are as published on its own website in September 2026. No boat operator passed that test, so none is named. Revelwick has not visited them, does not rate them and is not paid by them.

Where the rules come from

Drinking, beach, noise, bar hour and parking rules are from the Tybee Island Code and City of Tybee Island pages, Savannah's to-go rule from the City of Savannah code, bus parking and distances from Visit Tybee, the passenger rule from Coast Guard regulations, weather from NOAA climate normals, hurricane season from the National Hurricane Center, and event dates from their organizers. Georgia's own statutes could not be reached for this update, so the page states no state vehicle or party bus rule.
