Planning a Pittsburgh bachelorette weekend: the rules, the calendar and getting around

What to know before booking.

A Pittsburgh bachelorette party is the perfect mix of food and fun: a hotel in the Golden Triangle, a rooftop beer garden, craft beer, dinner in the Strip District, a night at Howl at the Moon, and the incline up Mount Washington for the view at night. Book the dinners and tours ahead, and check the stadium calendar.

Drinks and the law

The drinking age is 21, and bars can sell alcohol from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. The PLCB runs about 560 Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores. Stores with an expanded permit, including some Giant Eagle, GetGo, Whole Foods and Sheetz locations, can sell up to three liters of wine to go per purchase from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

When to go

NOAA normals at the airport give highs of about 72 degrees in May, 75 in September and 63 in October. Steelers home games fall on September 27, October 11, November 1 and 27, and December 6 and 20, 2026, and Pitt plays at the same stadium on October 10 and 31 and November 13.

Getting around

The 28X bus runs from the airport every 30 minutes or so for $2.75. A Day Pass is $7, and light rail between First Avenue and Allegheny is free. The Monongahela Incline runs to 12:45 a.m. Monday to Saturday, and the Duquesne Incline to 12:30 a.m. every day.

Book the dinner, check the game schedule, and ride the incline after dark.
