Planning a Hilton Head bachelorette weekend

The rules, the season and getting around.

A Hilton Head bachelorette party is a relaxed, fun SC island experience: a day in the sun, a dolphin cruise or private charter, bikes, dinner by the water and a night out, at about $940 a head for two nights as a Revelwick estimate.

Alcohol

The drinking age is 21. South Carolina liquor stores close at 7 p.m. and all day Sunday, and island bars must stop serving by 3 a.m. Alcohol is banned on the beach and on public streets, parks and parking lots.

When to go

Normal highs at the nearest stations are about 84 degrees in May, 86 in September and 78 in October, with July near 92. NOAA's Fort Pulaski gauge shows water 3 to 8 degrees warmer in September than in May. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, peaking around September 10, and RBC Heritage in April books rooms early.

Getting there and around

Hilton Head Island Airport is about 5 miles from the resorts, and Savannah/Hilton Head International is about 45 miles away. On the island, bikes use the paved pathways, and the free Breeze trolley runs from April through Labor Day. Sea Pines charges a $10 gate fee to visitors. For a city weekend, compare Charleston.

A permitted house, a boat on the water, and drinks off the sand.

How Hilton Head was priced and checked

The costs are Revelwick estimates. The places and rules are as published by their own sources in September 2026.

What the figures are

Every cost on this page is a Revelwick editorial estimate for a group of about nine over two nights. It is a starting point for a budget conversation rather than a quote, so check current prices before you book.

The places named here

Every resort, restaurant, bar and operator on this page is named by at least three independent sources, at least one of them authoritative, and its hours and rules are as published on its own website in September 2026. Revelwick has not visited them, does not rate them and is not paid by them.

Where the rules come from

Rental, beach, alcohol hour, pathway and sea turtle rules are from the Town of Hilton Head Island code, liquor store hours and the drinking age from the South Carolina Code of Laws, beaches, parking, airports, paths and the trolley from the Hilton Head Island Visitor and Convention Bureau, charter boat rules from federal law, the weather from NOAA climate normals, water temperature from NOAA's Fort Pulaski gauge, and hurricane season from the National Hurricane Center.
