8+

Group size at which many Old Mission wineries require a reservation

Book the wineries a week ahead and hire a driver for the day.

The Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail says many of its wineries require a reservation for groups of 8 or more, suggests calling at least a week ahead for 6 or more in summer and fall, and does not recommend relying on rideshare for the ride back to town. Michigan lets passengers in a state-authorized chartered vehicle hold open drinks; the group's own car is not exempt.

Planning a bachelorette party in Traverse City

Getting there, beaches and the calendar.

A Traverse City bachelorette party is a Northern Michigan wine weekend: Old Mission and Leelanau tasting rooms with a driver, downtown bars on Front Street, a bay sunset and a day at Sleeping Bear Dunes. Traverse City Tourism counts 50 plus wineries across the region.

Getting there

Cherry Capital Airport lists year round nonstops to Chicago, Detroit and two Florida airports, and summer service from Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston and Denver.

Beaches and parks

At Clinch Park downtown, beer and wine are allowed except on the beach. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore charges $25 a private vehicle for seven days, and $40 for a commercial van or mini-bus.

When to go

NOAA normals give highs of 77 to 81 degrees from June to August and about 59 in October, when the wineries are still open. The National Cherry Festival runs July 3 to 10, 2027, with the Blue Angels on July 5 and 6.

Tastings planned a week out, a chartered ride, and no drinks on the beach.

The places named here

Every winery, bar, restaurant, hotel and park on this page is named by at least three independent sources, at least one of them authoritative, and its hours and group rules are as published on its own website in September 2026. Revelwick has not visited them, does not rate them and is not paid by them.

Where the rules come from

Rental, noise and social district rules are from the City of Traverse City code and pages, the vehicle rule from the Michigan Compiled Laws, winery group guidance from the Old Mission Peninsula and Leelanau wine trails, park fees from the National Park Service, flights from Cherry Capital Airport, weather from NOAA climate normals, and festival dates from their organizers.
