4

Kinds of weekend to check before booking the house

In Austin the calendar comes first, and the house second.

South by Southwest in March, Austin City Limits across two October weekends, the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in late October, and University of Texas home football Saturdays in the fall are the busy weekends. A group that picks its dates before checking them may be booking against festival crowds for the same houses. Check the four calendars, then book.

03

The four numbers that move an Austin bachelorette party bill

Estimates for a group of nine. The biggest mover is not on this list, because it is the date.

Everybody drives in
−$180

Most of Texas is within a day's drive, and for a Texas group the flights are the easiest line to remove entirely.

A house further out
−$90

Cheaper, often with a pool, and every evening becomes two rides rather than a short one. Worth it for a pool weekend, not for a music one.

The Lake Travis boat
+$95

A chartered half day at about ten people, plus the ride out and back, which is the part that is easy to forget to price.

A second night out
+$120

Friday on Rainey Street and Saturday on Sixth Street. One of them is enough, and the Friday is the one to drop.

Planning an Austin bachelorette party: the calendar, the rules and the money

What catches groups out in Austin, and how to plan around it.

An Austin bachelorette party is a day on the water, live music, barbecue, tacos and a dance floor in one trip, at about $1,120 a head. It is a city the bride and her friends can travel to easily and love for very different reasons. The planning is mostly about the calendar, a few local rules and booking the group dinner early.

Check the Austin calendar first

South by Southwest runs in March, with 2027 dates of March 15 to 21. Austin City Limits takes two October weekends in Zilker Park, October 2 to 4 and 9 to 11 in 2026. The Formula 1 United States Grand Prix is October 22 to 25, 2026, and University of Texas home football Saturdays run through the fall. April and November are mild and outside those dates, which is why they are the months this page suggests.

The rental license and the noise rule

Austin requires every short-term rental operator to hold a city license and show the number in the listing, and since July 1, 2026 the city asks platforms to remove unlicensed listings. Guests must also keep amplified sound from being heard beyond the property line between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m., so the late part of the night belongs to the bars rather than the backyard.

Buy the spirits before Sunday

Texas liquor stores open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and are closed Sunday. Grocery stores sell beer and wine on Sunday from 10 a.m. Bars with a late-hours permit can serve until 2 a.m., so check the closing time of the last spot on the plan.

The boat captain rule

Texas requires a licensed operator for a chartered party boat carrying more than six passengers that is thirty feet or longer, so a group of nine books a captain. Travis County parks ban glass and public drinking, which makes the charter the place for that celebration.

What to pack and wear for an Austin bachelorette

A swimsuit and cover-up for the water and Barton Springs, sunscreen and a hat, boots or comfortable shoes for the dance hall, and a going out outfit with some western style if the group loves the theme. Pack water shoes for the lake and a light layer for November evenings.

Getting to Austin and getting around

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is about eight miles from the Capitol, with rideshare and a city bus route downtown. Book a shuttle both ways for the day on the water. Sixth Street between Red River and Congress was long closed to cars on weekend nights; since late 2024 police have opened it to traffic with the option to close it on crowded nights, as of 2025.

Where the money goes

The house or hotel is the largest line at about $350 a head, then food and drink at about $270, getting there at about $260 and the night out at about $240. The charter adds about $95 a head plus the shuttle. A barbecue pre-order and a free afternoon at Barton Springs or on South Congress keep the rest of the trip affordable.

Austin, Dallas or Nashville

Austin at about $1,120 is thirty dollars a head more than Dallas and about a hundred and twenty less than Nashville. Choose Austin for live music, views and a spring fed pool, Nashville for the biggest night out, and Dallas for a calmer, walkable evening.

Check the calendar before the house, and book the group dinner as soon as the window opens.

15

How Austin was priced and checked

Same method as every other city here. The rules on this page come from the agencies that set them.

What the figures are

Every cost on this page is a Revelwick editorial estimate for a group of about nine over two nights. It is a starting point for a budget conversation rather than a quote, and prices move, so check the current price before you book anything.

The places named here

Every hotel, restaurant, bar, venue and attraction on this page is named by at least three independent sources, at least one of them authoritative, and its address, hours and group options are as published on its own website or official page in September 2026. Revelwick has not visited them, does not rate them and is not paid by them. Hours and policies change, so confirm before booking.

Where the rules come from

Liquor and bar hours are from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, the rental rules from the City of Austin ordinance, the boat rule from Texas Parks and Wildlife, park rules from Travis County and the City of Austin, the weather from NOAA climate normals, and event dates from each event's own site.
