Planning a Hamptons bachelorette boat day
The rules, getting there and the budget.
A Hamptons bachelorette party boat day is a sail with a captain from Montauk or the North Fork, a popular celebration spot, with swim stops, sunset views and a waterfront lunch or dinner. For a group of seven or more, book an inspected boat and confirm its capacity, drinks policy and fees in writing.
The right rules for a boat rental
A captained charter without a Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection may carry at most six passengers. If the group rents a boat and drives it, the driver needs a New York boating safety certificate, and New York bans operating a boat while impaired.
Drinks and beaches
The drinking age is 21. East Hampton bans alcohol within 1,000 feet of road ends at some beaches while lifeguards are on duty, and Southampton town beaches close from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Several beaches require resident parking permits.
Getting there
The Hampton Jitney Montauk Line is $43 prepaid, and the LIRR runs to the Hamptons from Penn Station and Grand Central.
An inspected vessel, the drinks policy in writing, and an unforgettable sunset sail for the bride.

Passengers on a captained boat without inspection
A group of nine needs a Coast Guard inspected boat, so ask for the Certificate of Inspection.
Federal rules let a captained charter without a Coast Guard inspection carry no more than six passengers. Inspected boats list their own capacity, such as Mon Tiki's 40 foot catamaran certified to 49 guests or East End Charters' schooner for up to 32.

Where this comes from
The operators and rules are as published by their own sources in September 2026.
The places named here
Every operator, restaurant and hotel on this page is named by at least three independent sources, at least one of them authoritative, and its capacity, prices and rules are as published on its own website in September 2026. Revelwick has not visited them, does not rate them and is not paid by them.
Where the rules come from
The passenger rule is from Coast Guard regulations, boating and drinking rules from New York State law, beach and rental rules from the towns of East Hampton and Southampton, and fares from Hampton Jitney and the LIRR.
What the figures are
Any cost given as a per head figure here is a Revelwick editorial estimate for a group of about nine over two nights. It is a starting point for a budget conversation rather than a quote, so check current prices before you book.
