02

Types of bridal shower signs, and where each one goes

Every sign a bridal shower event might use, in the order guests meet them.

01

Directional sign

Outside a venue, a garden or a building with several doors, so guests find the right entrance. Unnecessary at a house with the host at the door.

02

Welcome sign

At the entrance on an easel: the bride's name, the words bridal shower and the date. The first photo spot of the day.

03

Gifts and cards sign

On the gift table, propped at the front, so guests arriving with a box know where to put it.

04

Drinks or bar sign

On the drinks table, naming the signature cocktail and marking which drinks have no alcohol.

05

Food and dessert labels

Small cards next to each dish, especially useful for allergens and vegetarian options.

06

Game station signs

Instructions for bingo, a guessing jar or a word scramble, so guests can play without the host explaining.

07

Advice or guest book sign

Asks guests to write marriage advice, a date night idea or a recipe for the couple to keep.

08

Favors sign

By the door, telling guests to take one on the way out.

09

Photo booth sign and props

A backdrop with a short phrase and a few handheld props with puns for the photo spot.

03

Bridal shower welcome sign sayings

Short wording ideas by style. Add the bride's name and the date.

01

Classic and timeless

Welcome to her bridal shower. Showering the bride to be. Celebrating the future Mrs.

02

Themed

Brunch and bubbly for the bride. Love is brewing. Something blue before I do. She found her main squeeze. Tea for the bride to be.

03

Fun and playful

Last name change loading. She said yes. Here comes the bride to be.

04

Romantic and sentimental

Love is in bloom. A love story in the making. Before the I do, a little shower for you.

04

Bridal shower sign size, by where it stands

Pick the size by the distance guests read it from.

01

18 x 24 inches

A welcome sign on a floor easel at the entrance, readable from a few steps away.

02

24 x 36 inches

An outdoor or large venue welcome sign, or a sign at a building entrance.

03

8 x 10 or letter size

A gift table, drinks or game station sign in a tabletop frame.

04

4 x 6 or 5 x 7 inches

Food labels, a favors card or a small bar menu.

05

Bridal shower sign materials, and where each one works

For the one or two signs worth making at a bridal shower event. The material decides the style more than the design does, and the display decides whether anybody reads it.

MaterialWhere it worksThe catch
Foam board, printed or hand letteredIndoors on an easel, for a welcome sign or the gift tableWarps outdoors and in damp air
AcrylicA modern style, and legible in any lightCustom acrylic costs the most and is hard to reuse
ChalkboardA DIY sign the host can rewrite for the weddingSmudges if it is moved after lettering
A mirror with vinylA photo spot near the entranceReflects the flash straight back in photos
WoodAn outdoor or yard shower, and a rustic themeHeavy on an easel, and needs a stand
Paper in a frameThe drinks sign or the food labels on a tableToo small for an entrance

Whatever the material, the bride's name and the date are the only custom text worth adding, and a standing easel or a frame on a table is all the display a bridal shower needs. Skip the banners.

How to plan bridal shower signage that works

Which signs to make first, wording, design, DIY or printed, placement and cost.

Bridal shower signs guide guests, set the theme and give the photo spots a focal point. The simplest way to decide which ones to make is to ask of each sign whether a guest would otherwise have to ask the host. Signs that answer a question, where the gifts go or which drink has no alcohol, come first. The decorative signs, the welcome board, a quote or a hashtag, are optional extras that make the celebration feel personalized when the budget and the time allow.

Wording: keep it short

The bride's name, the words bridal shower and the date are all a welcome sign needs. Keep every other sign to a few words guests can read in passing: gifts and cards here, the signature drink's name, take a favor. Save longer verse for the invitation.

Design choices that hold up in photos

Use one or two fonts, one color from the shower theme, and dark text on a light background. Script lettering looks beautiful but only works large; at table size a simple modern font is easier to read. Keep a margin around the text, and check that the words can be read from across the room before printing.

DIY, free printables or a custom sign

Free editable printables are an easy option: edit the name and date, print at home on heavy card stock, and put them in frames you already own. A DIY chalkboard or a hand lettered foam board suits a rustic or garden shower. A custom printed acrylic or wood welcome sign costs more and takes one to two weeks, so order it early if you want one, and choose a design without the date if the bride wants to reuse it at the wedding.

Placement, indoors and outdoors

Put the welcome sign at the entrance, beautifully lit and placed where it does not block the door. Prop table signs at the front edge of each table rather than lying flat. For an outdoor shower, weigh down easels, use foam board or wood rather than paper, and keep signs out of direct sun. Avoid hanging framed prints on the walls of a rented space, which can damage the paint.

Common bridal shower sign mistakes

Too much wording, text too small to read, a script font nobody can decipher, a sign placed where guests walk past it, and paper signs outdoors on a windy day. Proofread the bride's name and the date twice before printing.

Signs and the rest of the decor

Signs are part of the overall decor, so match them to the theme and the flowers rather than designing them separately. The bridal shower decorations page covers the table, the florals and the photo backdrop the signs sit next to.

What bridal shower signs cost

Revelwick's estimate is about ten dollars for a few signs printed at home in frames, and about forty dollars for a printed welcome board plus a set of table cards. Custom acrylic or wood signs cost more. If the budget is tight, make the gift table and drinks signs first.

Make the signs a guest would otherwise ask about. Then add the pretty ones.

The sign ruleWhat to make first

07

Which bridal shower signs to make first

Sorted on whether the sign answers a question a guest would otherwise ask the host.

Make these first

  • Where the gifts goRemoves eighteen separate questions asked at the moment the host is busiest, and it keeps working for late arrivals.Under $5
  • Which drink has no alcohol in itSome guests may not drink, and asking is awkward in a group. Only needed if it is not obvious.Under $5
  • One directional sign, outside a venueEarns its place at a garden or a venue where a guest might not know which door. Unnecessary at a house.

Hours, the night before

Designing, printing, cutting and mounting six signs. The setup task that takes longest and matters least.

Designing, printing, cutting and mounting a full set of signs the night before takes time. Make the ones that answer a question first, print them at home in frames you already own, and add the decorative ones only if there is time left.

What the figures are

Every cost on this page is a Revelwick editorial estimate for a bridal shower of about eighteen guests. It is a starting point for a budget conversation rather than a quote, and prices move, so check the current price before you book anything.

What is ours

The test, whether a guest would otherwise have to ask, is our framing for deciding which signs to make first.
